Stats

ADRIAN, Mich. - Each team earned a point in the MIAA standings on Wednesday night as Adrian and Albion battled to a 1-1 tie. The story of this one was key saves by both goalkeepers and missed chances by both teams. The Bulldogs jumped out to a early 1-0 lead on a magnificent play in front of the net. Alex Bergmooser scored his third goal of the season heading the ball just inside the crossbar. He received the ball off the head of Tom Maxwell who got a nice pass from Sean Dillon as both players were credited with an assist on the goal.

Albion put pressure on Adrian late in the first half as Andy Low flicked the ball with his head past goalkeeper Nick Siekirk for his fourth goal of the year with an assist from Justin Friedman who fired the ball low from about 30 yards out on the right wing. Albion had the better second half on the stat sheet with a 10-4 advantage in shots.

Siekirk kept the score tied with a save just 53 seconds into overtime off the foot of Jeff DeMoss. Albion had three shots in the first extra period but it was Adrian's Ben Enser who nearly ended the match with 18 seconds left as his shot was just high of the crossbar from the far left wing.

Albion had a golden opportunity in the second overtime as Low made a bid for his second goal of the match hitting the right post with a shot in the 107th minute of action. Adrian had two shots in the second overtime but neither were on goal. The Britons had a 23-15 shot advantage for the match as Siekirk made nine saves for the Bulldogs. Jordan Thomas made three saves for Albion. Markian Shier led Adrian with seven total shots and three shots on goal. Adrian College is now 5-8-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the league.
