The Adrian College women's hockey team got their biggest win in the young history of the program on Friday night with a 3-1 victory over the #8 team in the nation from the University of Wisconsin - Superior.
The Bulldogs struck first on an Ashley Aiken goal at 12:45 in the first period, giving the home team the 1-0 advantage. After the first intermission, the Yellowjackets evened things at 1-1 early in the period on a short-handed goal by Brianne Mosher.
The Bulldog bid for an upset would not be quieted. The home team regained the lead at 18:09 in the second period when assistant captain Nicole Zynda fired a shot from the right point past the Yellowjacket defense for the game-winner. Andrea Soloko would add to the Bulldogs' margin of victory with the third goal of the game for AC at 6:06 in the final frame.
Stacey Kempson maintained her lead in women's D-III scoring by registering two assists on the night for the Bulldogs, giving her nine assists on the season and 13 total points.
Ashley Kavanagh picked up the win in goal for the Bulldogs, improving her record to 2-0 on the season.
The Bulldogs and Yellowjackets will face off again tomorrow afternoon at the Arrington Ice Arena at 2:00 p.m.
