ADRIAN, Mich. -
The Adrian College women's hockey team fell short in their bid to upset the #8 team in the country twice in the same weekend on Saturday.
The Yellowjackets of UW-Superior scored a goal in each period, giving the visitors the 3-0 edge with just over 14 minutes left in the third frame. The game remained 3-0 until Danielle Maludy slipped the puck past the Yellowjackets' goalie with 4:27 left in the game. Keegan Castrillo and Steph Dimini were both in on the assist.
The game tightened up as the Bulldogs pulled within one on a Keegan Castrillo goal with 1:01 left in the game, giving the Bulldogs the momentum in the final seconds. The Yellowjackets, however, held off the Bulldogs' attempt at netting the equalizer and claimed the 3-2 victory.
Melissa Kunzelman picked up the win in goal for the Yellowjackets while Ashley Kavanagh was handed the tough loss for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are next on the road for an away series against UW-Eau Claire in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The first game of the series will be played on November 30 with a 7:00 p.m. face-off time.
