The Adrian College men's varsity team suffered a 7-5 loss to the Marian College Sabres on Friday night giving up a season-high for goals allowed.
The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first when Chris Stansik scored an even-strengthed goal at 4:13 in the first period. The host Sabres scored their first goal of the game just over a minute later to tie the game at 1-1. The Sabres scored another goal late in the first period to claim the 2-1 lead going into the locker room.
In the second period, the Bulldogs bounced back to tie the game at 2-2 on a Quinn Waller power-play goal 2:50 into the frame. The Bulldogs and Sabres traded goals throughout the period. Eric Miller netted the Bulldogs' third goal of the game, sending the game to 3-3 at the conclusion of the second period.
The Bulldogs came out firing in the third frame, gaining a 5-3 lead on a Shawn Skelly even-strengthed goal at 1:27 and Eric Miller's second goal of the game at 7:21.
The Sabres then went on a tear, scoring three unanswered goals in the period to gain a 7-5 lead and eventually take the win.
The two teams will face off again tomorrow afternoon in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin with the puck dropping at 4:00 p.m. CT.
