Lady 'Dogs Drop MIAA Opener at Albion, 63-55

ALBION, Mich. - Adrian College opened the MIAA portion of their schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 63-55 loss to the Britons of Albion College. Albion received a career-high 25 points from Brittany Kemperman and Adrian was outscored 40-28 in the second half after building a 27-23 halftime lead.

Adrian shot well above their season average going 12-of-26 (.462) from the field in the first half. Albion picked up their defensive intensity in the second half and limited the Bulldogs to 27.3 percent shooting from the field. Jennifer Perrin went 5-of-12 from the floor, 2-of-5 from the arc and 2-of-4 from the foul line for a season-high 14 points to lead Adrian. Ashley McClarren continued her solid early season play with 13 points and four boards in 31 minutes. McClarren was 3-of-7 from the floor and 7-of-13 from the line.

The Bulldogs led 29-23 after a McClarren layup at the 19:11 mark of the second half. Albion went on a 13-3 run over the next four minutes to take a 36-32 lead at the 15:06 mark. Adrian tied the game at 38-38 on a triple by Liz Hafeli at the 11:35 mark. The Bulldogs held a lead for the middle portion of the second half but not by more than three points. Adrian was up 52-49 at the 3:54 mark on a triple by Nichole Roose.

Emi Guimond tied the game for Albion at 54-54 with 2:09 left and the Britons outscored the Bulldogs, 9-1, down the stretch. Adrian missed their final five shots to end the game. Adrian finished the game at 37.5 percent both overall and from behind the arc. Albion shot 32.3 percent overall and were 5-of-12 from beyond the arc. Adrian lost the rebounding battle, 46-37, including 21-10 on the offensive glass. Hafeli led the Adrian bench with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting.
