AC downed 89-63 at Bluffton

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Adrian College men's basketball team dropped their second straight game on Saturday afternoon at Bluffton by the final score of 89-63. It was the Bulldogs worst defeat of the young season and dropped their overall record to 4-3.

Adrian jumped out to a quick 10-3 lead in the first 2:23 of the game making four of their first six shots. Bluffton then went on a 10-0 run to take a three-point lead they would hold for a couple of minutes. The Bulldogs regained the lead at 26-25 at the 7:39 mark on a jumper by Ryan Gallus. AC extended their lead to 33-27, their largest of the game, at the 5:46 mark on a layup by Desmond Young. Bluffton outscored Adrian by 12 points to end the half and take a 43-37 lead into halftime.

The Bulldogs maintained a reasonable distance in the first eight minutes of the second half but Bluffton built their lead to double digits at 57-47 at the 11:22 mark. Bluffton pushed the ball for the remainder of the game pulling away in the final 10 minutes.

The Beavers' bench was critical outscoring the Bulldog bench, 41-14, including 20-8 in the second half. Senior Ian Weber recorded his third double-double of the year with a season-high 18 points and 10 boards. Weber was a perfect 9-of-9 from the floor and also blocked two shots. The Adrian starting backcourt struggled from the floor going 13-of-36 for the game. Young had 14 points and seven assists. Gallus finished with 12 points, five assists and four steals. Corey Smith added nine points off the bench connecting on 3-of-4 from the arc. Adrian went 26-of-61 (.426) from the field while Bluffton went 32-of-56 (.571).
