ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College men's varsity hockey team blew open a close game and captured a 5-1 league victory over the visiting Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders on Friday night at the Arrington Ice Arena.

The Bulldogs struck first in the opening period when Eric Miller put away an uncontrolled shot on goal in front of the net to give the home team the 1-0 advantage in a tight game.

The Bulldogs then had an offensive explosion in the second period, scoring three goals in a span of less than five minutes. Brad Houston got things started, scoring his ninth goal of the season on a power-play opportunity to give AC all the offense they would need for the night. Two goals was hardly enough for the Bulldogs, however, as Eric Miller notched his second goal of the evening, eleventh on the year, at the 10:11 mark in the second period. Jeremy Klaver rounded out the scoring outburst for Adrian by adding his third goal of the season just over two minutes later.

In the third period, the Bulldogs stretched the lead to 5-0 on a power-play goal by Mike Dahlinger less than two minutes into the frame. The Raiders found the scoreboard on a Jason Yolo slap shot from just inside the blue line for their only score of the evening.

Brad Fogal picked up the win, improving his record to 7-2 in goal for the Bulldogs on the season. Fogal registered 19 saves in the game for Adrian.

The Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders and the Adrian College Bulldogs will take to the ice again tomorrow afternoon at the Arrington Ice Arena. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
