Stats

MEQUON, Wis. - After falling behind early, the Adrian College men's varsity hockey team scored eight unanswered goals en route to a 10-3 victory over the Concordia University (Wisconsin) Falcons on Friday night in Mequon, Wisconsin.

The Falcons got their only lead of the game 7:35 into the game on an even-strength goal by Jonathan Smith. Within 2:30 of the Falcons' goal, however, the Bulldogs gained a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest. James King and Jeremy Klaver scored just 36 seconds apart midway through the first period to get the Bulldog offense off and running. Eric Miller added another AC goal with 49 left before the end of the first period for the 3-1 Bulldog advantage.

The Bulldogs would get the game-winner and the only goal of the second period with 4:01 on the clock in the second frame when Mike Towns connected with Kyle Watson for his third goal of the season.

The Adrian offense was far from being finished in the contest after Watson's goal as the Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders in the third period. The visitors from Adrian lit up the scoreboard three times within the first five minutes of the game's final frame. Chris Stansik found the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season 2:22 into the third period. Joel Workman scored his first goal of the season 1:37 later to put the Bulldogs up 6-1. Just under a minute after Workman's goal, Eric Bailen scored the first-ever short-handed goal in Bulldog history to stretch the lead to six goals in favor of Adrian.

Christopher Thiess scored a power-play goal to try to give the Falcons some life and narrow the Bulldog lead to five goals. Mike Towns, however, moved the Bulldog lead back to six 21 seconds later to make the game 8-2. Midway through the period, Jari Sanders scored a power-play goal to get the Falcons back within five of the Bulldogs, but that would be the final goal for the home team in the contest.

Eric Miller added another short-handed goal for the Bulldogs with 35 seconds left in the game for his team-leading 15th goal on the season. Brad Houston then netted his tenth goal of the season with just 16 seconds left in the contest to wrap up the Bulldog scoring and put the visitors up 10-3.

Brad Fogal made 27 saves en route to his 10th win on the season in goal for the 11-3 Bulldogs.

The two teams will face off again tomorrow afternoon in Wisconsin with the puck being scheduled to drop at 2:00 p.m. CT.
