ADRIAN, Mich. -
The Adrian College women's hockey team struggled again to find the back of the net on Saturday night at Arrington Ice Arena.
Despite holding the 27-18 margin in shots on goal for the game, the Bulldogs were not able to convert enough shots to goals as they fell to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons, 5-1.
The Falcons scored three first period goals on six shots on goal for a lead they would not relinquish throughout the remainder of the game. Stefanie Schmitz (7:37), Jenna Scanlon (13:12), and Jamie Briski (14:50) gave the Falcons the 3-0 lead heading into the locker rooms at the first intermission. The Falcons then struck two more times early in the second period on goals by Ashly Berner and Lauren Conrad at 5:40 and 6:30, respectively.
Stacey Kempson tried to bring some life back into the Bulldogs in the final minute of the period, scoring an even-strength goal to get the home team on the scoreboard. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Kempson's goal would be the only scoring of the night as the home team suffered their fifth loss of the season.
Dana Timm was dealt the loss in goal for the Bulldogs, making two saves in 14:50 of work. Ashley Kavanagh registered 11 saves in 44:58 throughout the course of the game.
The Bulldogs will look to bounce back against the Falcons tomorrow as the two teams face off again at Arrington Ice Arena at 2:00 p.m.
