The Adrian College women's hockey team defeated Buffalo State to win their season opener Saturday night at the Arrington Ice Arena.
Lyndsay Laxton scored the first goal of the season for the Bulldogs in the 13th minute of the first period. The Bulldogs would take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Prenella Semma increased the Bulldog lead to 2-0 by scoring a goal 17 minutes into the second period. The game became 3-0 less than a minute later when Laxton scored her second goal of the game off and assist from Semma.
The Bulldogs finished strong in the third period by scoring two additional goals to earn the 5-0 win. Steph Dimini scored the first goal of the third period, and Stacey Kempson scored the final goal of the game. Nicky Futers and Nicole Zynda were each credited with an assist on the Dimini goal, and Dimini earned the assist on the Kempson goal.
Dana Timm was the goaltender for the Bulldogs. Timm ended the game with 19 saves.
The women's hockey team will play Buffalo State again tomorrow, Oct. 26th at 2:00 p.m.
