Stansik's three points leads Adrian to 5-2 Win over Finlandia

ADRIAN, Mich. - The men's hockey team seems to have different guys step up during any given game and sophomore Chris Stansik was that guy on Saturday with a season-high three points in a 5-2 win over Finlandia. The Bulldogs improved to 6-1-1 overall and 4-0 in the MCHA with their win over the Lions. Adrian won the battle of Division III schools from Michigan with a strong power play going 3-for-7 with the man advantage on the afternoon.

Finlandia led 2-1 after one period scoring on just five shots on goal against Bryan Scott, who saw his first start of the season last just 20 minutes. James Neitsch gave FU a 1-0 lead at the 12:31 mark of the opening period with an assist from Keith Johnstone. Jeremy Klaver tied the game at the 17:36 mark on the power play for his third goal of the season. Stansik and Mike Dahlinger were given assists on the shot which was fired for the deep right wing. Finlandia scored 1:24 later at even strength as Corey Blake's third of the year from Johnstone and Blake Miller gave the Lions a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Brad Fogal entered the game in net to begin the second period and did not allow a goal in the final 40 minutes making 12 saves. He picked up his sixth win for the Bulldogs between the pipes. Stansik went from one end of the ice to the other to tie the game at 2-2 at the 3:48 mark of the second on a power play. Kyle Frieday was credited with an assist on the game-tying goal.

Mike Fiorillo scored the game-winner at the 18:32 mark of the second on the backhand for his second of the season. Quinn Waller recorded his 11th assist of the year on the goal. Shawn Skelly scored at the 2:58 mark of the third on a power play with a blast from short left wing for his eighth and Joel Workman added an insurance goal at the 18:20 mark with an assist from Sam Kuzyk. It was Workman's second goal of the season. Adrian had 31 shots on goal compared to 17 for the Lions.
