Final Stats
FOND DU LAC, Wis. -
The top offensive forward trio of Shawn Skelly, Adam Krug and Eric Miller all had a big night as Adrian won their sixth in a row and have improved to 7-1-1 overall and 5-0 in the MCHA. Marian and Adrian met on Friday night with first-place outright in the conference on the line as the Bulldogs scored three first period goals in setting the tone early in the beginning 20 minutes.
Drew Satterley gave Adrian a 1-0 lead at the 3:22 mark of the first for his second goal of the season with an assist from Joel Workman. Adam Freeman scored his sixth of the season at the 9:07 mark unassisted to tie the game at 1-1. The Bulldogs' top scoring line then went to work as Krug's eighth with assists from Miller and Skelly at 14:47 made it 2-1. Krug lit the lamp just 3:51 later at the 18:36 mark from the same two guys at even strength to give AC a 3-1 lead.
Skelly scored his ninth of the season at 4:55 of the second period with assists from Krug and Miller. The Bulldogs seemed to cruise to the two-goal win from there as Brad Fogal remained steady in goal making 18 of his 24 saves in the final two periods. Todd Collins scored his fourth of the season at 2:32 of the third to round out the scoring.
Cullen Caldwell and Jason Judczak split time in goal for Marian as Jadczak made 11 saves before being pulled after allowing the fourth goal in the second. Caldwell stopped all 14 shots that came his way for the remainder of the game. Neither team could crack the scoreboard on the power play as Adrian went 0-for-5 and Marian went 0-for-6. Adrian outshot Marian, 29-26, for the contest. The two teams will conclude their weekend series tomorrow as Adrian looks to extend their six-game winning streak.
