The men's hockey team remained undefeated both on the road and in MCHA play with a 5-2 win at Marian on Saturday. The Bulldogs are 5-0-1 away from Arrington Ice Arena and are alone in first place in the conference with a 6-0 record. Sophomore Mike Dahlinger continued his improved play with two goals including the game-winner in the third period. Sophomore Shawn Skelly upped his season goal total to 11 with a pair of goals. Sophomore Brad Fogal came up big with 30 saves just one shy of his season-high. Fogal has three games of 30-plus saves this season as he improved to 8-1-1 in net. He is allowing 1.96 goals per game in 10 games played for the Bulldogs.
Marian got on the board first in this one as Randy Wills beat Fogal at 10:35 of the first period with assists from Mitch Bye and Nick Henkemeyer. Mike Towns needed just 1:43 to tie the game at 1-1 unassisted as both teams went to the locker room. Adrian scored the lone goal of the second period as Skelly found the back of the net at 6:30 with an assist from Adam Krug.
Dahlinger scored an even strength goal at 2:40 of the third period for the game-winner with an assist from Jeremy Klaver. Adam Freeman cut the lead to 3-2 at the 9:50 mark as Henkemeyer got his second assist of the night. Dahlinger scored again at 11:43 with assists from Mike Fiorillo and Eric Roman to cushion their lead back to two goals. Skelly added a power play goal at 14:45 to put the game in command of the Bulldogs with assists from Brad Houston and Sam Kuzyk.
Adrian outshot Marian, 42-32, with a high of 19 shots in the second period. AC was 1-for-8 on the power play and Marian was 1-for-2.
