Bulldogs Spread the Wealth in 5-0 Win at Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. - The scoring was spread out on Friday and it was the winning formula in a MCHA opening victory by the final of 5-0 at Lawrence. Adrian showed once again that they are a force in the conference with a convincing shutout win on the road. Brad Fogal (3-1-1) earned his first blanking of the season and the sixth of his career stopping 27 shots. His busiest period was the third with 11 saves.

Adrian's five goals came on 42 shots on goal and with one of those on the power play out of a possible eight chances. The game was also of a physical nature as both teams spent 133 minutes in the sin bin. Adrian finished with 20 penalties accounting for 70 minutes. The third period was littered with whistles as Eric Miller received a 10-minute misconduct and Mike Towns and Riley Hughes were each served with 10-minute game disqualification penalties. Both guys will have to sit out tomorrow's contest.

Shawn Skelly scored on the power play with 4:22 gone in the first period for his sixth of the year to give AC a 1-0 lead. Quinn Waller and Eric Miller were given assists on the game-winner. Miller scored a short-handed goal, the team's first of the season, for his fifth on the year at the 12:49 mark to give Adrian a 2-0 advantage. Two minutes and eight seconds later, Kyle Frieday scored his second on the year at even strength with assists from Kyle Watson and Mike Dahlinger.

The second period was scoreless as the Bulldogs held a 10-6 edge in shots on goal. Jeremy Klaver scored his second of the year at four-on-four 1:18 into the third period to give AC a 4-0 lead. Skelly got the assist on the fourth goal of the night. After a bevy of penalties, it was Waller netting his first of the year on another four-on-four with 58 seconds left in the contest. The captain's goal was assisted by Dahlinger and Bobby Hineman. The victory was the Bulldogs' 20th conference win in its 21st regular season game.
