Dec. 6, 2008

Final Stats

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The men's hockey team has battled to an 8-0 MCHA record and with a bullseye on their back claimed another one-goal win over MSOE on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs had another nail-biter with a 6-5 win at the Kern Center improving to 10-1-1 overall.

Adrian grabbed an early 2-0 lead on even strength goals by Mark Gertsakis and Mike Dahlinger. Gertsakis scored his first on the year at 2:56 and Dahlinger netted his sixth of the season at 5:31. MSOE tied the game 2-2 after one period with goals at even strength by Brock King at 11:15 and Jacob Furey at 16:20. Adrian outshot the Raiders, 13-9, after 20 minutes.

Adam Krug broke the tie at the 2:38 of the second which sparked three straight goals by the Bulldogs. Krug scored again on the power play at 7:06 which began a string of five straight power play goals between the two teams. Shawn Skelly's 12th of the season on a 5-on-3 advantage made it 5-2 with 8:59 left in the second.

The Raiders took advantage of the man-up situation at 15:04 of the second as Michael Siergiej scored his first of the year to cut the lead to 5-3 after 40 minutes. Skelly's second power play goal of the game at 11:19 in the third regained a three-goal lead for Adrian. The Raiders made things very interesting as they got a Todd Krupa power play goal at 15:08 and then pulled their goaltender while short-handed to score an even strength goal at 19:17 off the stick of Ryno Linder.

Brad Fogal made 27 saves including 14 in the second earning his 10th win between the pipes this season. Conner Toomey got the start for MSOE and made 24 saves while allowing five goals. Sam Washer played 10:16 in net and made four saves but gave up the winning goal and took the loss (0-1). Defenseman Quinn Waller led Adrian with four points as he assisted on four goals. Krug had two goals and one assist while Skelly also had two goals and one assist. MSOE proved to be a formidable opponent and the Bulldogs could gage their play against a talented team that last weekend earned a tie against then second-ranked Wisconsin Superior.
