The top-ranked Hope College women's basketball team continued to roll as they defeated Adrian by the final score of 88-65 on Saturday afternoon improving to 22-0, 14-0 in the MIAA. The Bulldogs fall to 8-14 overall and 6-8 in the league with two games remaining in the regular season.
Adrian led by two points in the opening minute but that was it as the Flying Dutch built a 50-34 halftime lead and outscored Adrian 38-31 in the second half. Hope shot 43.9 percent overall but were just 4-of-17 from the arc. Adrian shot 38 percent overall and were 2-of-7 behind the long line. Both teams made frequent trips to the foul line as Adrian was 25-of-36 (.694) while Hope was 26-of-34 (.765). The number of free throws made and attempted were season-highs for the Bulldogs.
Anita Stamps led Adrian with 12 points in 25 minutes off the bench. She made three field goals (one three-pointer) and five free throws. Elysia Norris was the other player in double figures for the Bulldogs with 11 points in 17 minutes. She was 4-of-7 from the field and 3-of-4 at the foul line. Megan Bouwens led the team with seven rebounds and also scored seven points in 26 minutes.
