Bulldogs find winning ways in game one against Falcons

Feb. 17, 2008

Stats

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College women's hockey team got back on the winning side of things on Saturday night as they defeated the fellow first-year team from Concordia University Wisconsin by a 4-1 margin.

Alysha Drouin got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard after a scoreless first period when her shot deflected off of a Falcon defender past the goalie for the game's first goal 1:37 into the second period. The Bulldogs wasted little time stretching their lead to two as Stacey Kempson registered her ninth goal of the season less than three minutes later.

Midway through the third period, the Falcons got back within one of the Bulldogs on an even-strength effort by Jaime Athens. Down the stretch, however, the Bulldogs were too much for the Falcons as the home team struck twice in quick succession. Ainsley Coon stretched the lead back to two goals at 18:12. Keegan Castrillo scored her 10th goal just 40 seconds after Coon to give the Bulldogs the 4-1 win.

Ashley Kavanagh played a strong game in goal, stopping several scoring opportunities for the Falcons while picking up her fifth win in goal on the season.

The Bulldogs and Falcons are set to face-off again tomorrow afternoon with the puck dropping at 2:00 p.m.
