HANCOCK, Mich. - The Adrian College women's hockey team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to the Finlandia University Lions on Saturday in Hancock, Michigan.

The Bulldogs looked as though they were going to snap their winless drought of 2008 early in the contest. Ainsley Coon scored back-to-back goals at 9:37 and 15:32 in the first period to give Adrian the early 2-0 advantage.

After the first intermission, the Lions responded by cutting the AC lead to one on a short-handed goal less than two minutes into the period. The hosts from Finlandia knotted the game at 2-2 midway through the period on a power-play goal. The Lions then scored their third-straight goal of the period to take the lead with 6:22 left before the second intermission.

Lauren Anastos got things going for the Bulldogs again, tying the game up on an even-strength goal just 36 seconds before the end of the period to give the visitors some life headed back to the locker room.

The game remained in a 3-3 deadlock until the Lions netted their second power-play goal with 3:48 left in the contest to take the lead and the 4-3 win.

Erin Roach, who has been out with an injury since early in the season, made 13 saves through the first two periods of the game before giving way to Ashley Kavanagh in goal. Kavanagh made five saves while suffering the loss between the pipes.

The Bulldogs and the Lions will take to the ice again tomorrow afternoon. The puck is set to drop at 2:15 p.m.
