The women's basketball team had a complete effort on both ends of the floor in an 82-53 win over Olivet on Saturday. The win avenges a earlier season loss at Olivet and gives Adrian a 12-5 record overall and 5-4 MIAA record.
The Bulldogs started the game going 5-for-8 from the floor in the first six minutes and built a 15-8 lead. Adrian continued to put the pressure on Olivet and increased their lead to 31-13 at the 6:09 mark of the first half. Adrian led by as many as 24 points in the first half and took a 39-16 lead into the locker room. Olivet had just three players score in the opening half as Emily Brown's 10 points led the Comets. All 10 players that dressed for Adrian scored in the first half led by Anita Stamps with 10 points.
In the first five-plus minutes of the second half, the Bulldogs continued their intensity and put the game out-of-reach leading 54-23 with 14:17 left in the game. Olivet trimmed the lead to 24 on three occasions but could not make a serious run for the rest of the contest. Adrian held Olivet to 31.6 percent shooting from the floor and the Comets did not help themselves going 15-for-25 at the foul line. The Bulldogs shot 45.8 percent for the contest and were a season-high 26-for-31 (83.9%) from the foul line. Liz Hafeli went 6-for-6 at the charity stripe and finished with eight points off the bench. Stamps scored a game-high 23 points and was 8-for-15 from the field and 6-for-8 from the line. It was her fourth 20-plus point game of the season. Jennifer Perrin grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds and recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 points. Ashley McClarren corraled 11 rebounds and added six points before fouling out. Adrian finished the game with 29 points off turnovers and 20 second-chance points.
