Bulldogs Fall to Albion 84-70

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College men's basketball team fell to Albion College by the final score of 84-70 on Saturday afternoon at the Merillat Center. Adrian falls to 6-12 overall with a 3-5 mark in the MIAA conference.

Matt Wayne led the Bulldogs offensively in the first half. Wayne was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and also led the team with three rebounds. Michael Staley hit a three point shot at the buzzer to tie the game at 26 going into halftime. Staley scored seven points and added two assists through the first twenty minutes of action.

The games turning point came nearly five minutes into the second half. Adrian's offensive got shut down, to open up an opportunity for the Britons. Albion went on an 18-2 run to take full control of the game. During that stretch Andre Bridges scored two lay ups and also buried a three pointer.

Albion shot 32 percent from the floor in the first half, but turned things around in the second half by shooting 68 percent. Robbie Clark and Bridges led the team with 17 points each. Andrew Holms added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds. The Britons used a team effort as the bench contributed with 46 points compared to just 22 from Adrian. Albion also held the advantage at the free throw line as they made more free throws than the Bulldogs attempted.

J.C. Cruse played a great defensive game for the Britons. Cruse was matched up on the MIAA's leading scorer Desmond Young. Young finished the game with a season-low six points on 3-of-10 shooting. Staley stepped up to lead Adrian with 20 points. Wayne was 8-of-9 from the floor to net 16 points and also led the Bulldogs with seven rebounds.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, February 4th to face Kalamazoo on the road at 7:30 p.m.
