Final Stats

ALBION, Mich. - The Adrian College men's basketball team picked up a conference win on the road against the Albion Britons on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs won the game by the final score of 61-58 to improve to 4-7 overall early in the 2008-09 season.

The game was close from the opening tip to the final buzzer. Adrian shot 44 percent from the floor in the first half to open up a five point lead at halftime. The Bulldogs were able to extend the lead to seven points early in the second half, but the Britons would hang tough and eventually take the lead by one point with 3:07 left to play.

Desmond Young regained the lead for Adrian with a pull up jumper in the paint with 2:15 left in regulation. J.C. Cruse answered for Albion with a lay up that put the Britons back on top at 56-55. Young was able to give the Bulldogs the lead once again with a pair of free throws at the 1:40 mark.

A pair of free throws from Cruse cut the Bulldog lead to one point with only seven seconds remaining. With time running out in the second half, the Britons were forced to foul. Dwight VanHoesen stepped to the free throw line and knocked down both shots to give Adrian the victory.

Young went 8-for-10 from the charity stripe and ended the game with 18 points. Michael Staley added 13 points and five assists. Matt Wayne was an inside presence for the Bulldogs as he scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.

The Bulldogs will return to action this weekend as they host Kalamazoo on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
