The Adrian College men's hockey team defeated Lake Forest College by the final score of 11-5 on Saturday afternoon. The win gives Adrian a perfect 6-0 record to start the season.
Eric Miller scored the first goal of the game for Adrian at the 5:39 mark. He was assisted on the power play goal by Zach Graham and Chris Stansik. AC increased their lead to 2-0 when Kyle Watson scored his fourth goal of the season seven minutes later off assists from Andrew Dovey and Stansik. Lake Forest got on the scoreboard with .6 seconds to play in the opening period. Adam Love scored the goal off assists from Nick Ghidina and Andrew Rocca.
The Foresters tied the game at 2-2 early in the second period off a power play goal from Justin Taylor. A big turning point in the game came when Adrian scored three straight goals in just under three minutes. Kyle Frieday started the scoring spree with a power play goal at the 8:06 mark. Shawn Skelly scored his first goal of the game at the 9:24 mark, and Mike Dahlinger capped off the series with a goal off an assist from Sam Kuzyk. Love scored his second goal of the game for the Foresters to make the score 5-3, but Kyle Watson scored the final goal of the period to secure the Adrian lead at 6-3.
AC dominated the third period by scoring five goals in the final 20 minutes of action. Jeremy Klaver and Joel Workman scored the first two goals for AC off the power play. Adrian connected on four of their eight power play opportunities, while Lake Forest ended the game 1-of-12. The Foresters matched Adrian by scoring back-to-back goals midway through the period. The Bulldogs bounced back to take control of the game by scoring the final three goals of the game. Graham, Kuzyk, and Dovey each scored a goal to give Adrian the 11-5 victory.
Brad Fogal was the goalkeeper for a majority of the game for Adrian. Fogal spent just under 49 minutes in between the posts and made 18 saves. Jeremy Cross also saw some action as he made six saves for AC.
