Final Stats

ADRIAN, Mich. - The women's hockey team defeated #4 UW-River Falls, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Arrington Ice Arena after trailing 2-0 after the first 7:06 of the game. The Bulldogs split the NCHA weekend series with the Falcons by scoring three unanswered goals for their third win of the season. Adrian also evened their conference record at 2-2.

Jamie Briski's fifth of the season 45 seconds into the game gave UWRF a 1-0 lead at even strength with an assist from Jessica Thompson. Alyssa Jackson's power play goal tip-in at 7:06 of the first from Briski and Amanda Ryder gave the Falcons a quick 2-0 advantage. Adrian outshot UWRF, 12-7, in the first period as goaltender Melissa Deardorff made all 12 saves.

The Bulldogs got the comeback rolling at 11:10 of the second period at even strength on a great individual effort by Kelly Salis. The defenseman skated from her defensive zone into the Falcon zone on a breakaway and shot a wrister top right corner for her second goal of the season.

Jessica Grubbs brought Adrian all the way back at 13:48 at even strength for her fifth of the year on a nice shot over Deardorff's shoulder just under the middle of the crossbar in front of the crease. The goal was assisted by Salis and captain Danielle Maludy to tie things up at 2-2 after two periods.

Grubbs scored the game-winner at 7:25 of the third at even strength as she fired a shot that caromed off the boards and directly back in front of the net. Grubbs got a stick on the puck and jammed it past Deardorff who was sprawled of her back in the crease. Grubbs' sixth of the year was assisted by Olivia Rork.

Adrian did not score on seven power play chances during the game as Katie Flanagan took two costly penalties in the final 2:35 of the game which gave the Falcons little chance of a tying opportunity. Dana Timm made 20 saves in earning the win between the pipes for Adrian. She is 3-5 on the season.
