The men's hockey team became the second school to finish the MCHA regular season with a perfect record after a 7-4 win at Concordia on Saturday. The Bulldogs' 20-0 record in conference play is four more than when Marian went 16-0 during the 2001-02 season. Adrian has now lost just once in 40 MCHA games since joining the league last season.
The Bulldogs outshot the Falcons, 54-30, including a 29-6 edge in the first period. AC led 3-1 after one as Mike Dahlinger (12th), Shawn Skelly (27th) and Brad Houston (13th) each scored a goal for Adrian. Skelly and Houston had power play goals at 17:58 and 19:47 respectively.
Adrian increased their lead to 7-2 after two periods as Adam Krug had a big period with two goals (18th and 19th). He scored at 55 seconds and on the power play at 18:24. Mike Towns scored a short-handed goal for his fifth of the year at 4:42 which proved to be the game-winner. Skelly added his NCAA leading 28th goal on the power play at 6:05 of the second with assists from Eric Miller and Chris Stansik.
Concordia scored twice in the third on the power play to cut the lead to three for Adrian. Sam Aide (14th) and Jari Sanders (3rd) scored at 12 seconds and 6:06 of the period. Brad Fogal improved to 22-1-1 with 20 saves. Jeremy Cross made six saves in the third and played 15:12 in net. Adrian went 4-of-7 on the power play and Concordia was 3-of-10. The Bulldogs will begin the MCHA Tournament next weekend with a first-round home series with Northland on Friday and Saturday.
