ADRIAN, Mich. -
The defense once again limited MSOE scoring chances and Adrian College posted their sixth shutout of the season in a 5-0 win against the Raiders on Friday. Adrian (20-1-1, 17-0 MCHA) continues to go through their schedule with precision as they won their 19th straight game and picked up their 20th win of the season. Sophomore defenseman Chris Stansik was named the first star of the game with a goal and two assists. Stansik assisted on a power play goal by senior forward Adam Krug at 6:04 of the second and later scored at even strength on an odd-man rush in front of the net at 7:53 of the second for his sixth goal of the year. Stansik also assisted on the game's third goal at 11:19 of the second. Sophomore forward Shawn Skelly scored his 26th of the year on the power play with an assist also going to Bobby Hineman. Skelly went the length of the ice and put a nice move on a defender to create open space.
Late in the second period, the Bulldogs capped off a solid offensive period with a 5-on-3 power play goal by junior forward Kyle Frieday. Frieday ripped a slapshot past goaltender Conner Toomey with a screen in front in the top left corner of the goal for his seventh of the year at 13:14. Freshman forward Mike Leone and sophomore forward Mike Dahlinger were given assists on the goal.
Adrian finished the night with a 4-on-3 power play goal at 11:27 of the third. Sophomore forward Sam Kuzyk got behind the defense and took a nice pass from sophomore forward Brad Houston. Kuzyk's sixth of the season was also assisted by sophomore defenseman Jeremy Klaver. Adrian was without the services of sophomore forward Eric Miller who ranks third on the team with 33 points. AC got junior Rob Hodnicki back in the lineup after missing nearly half the season with an injury. Hodnicki had three shots on goal in the first.
Sophomore goaltender Brad Fogal picked up his 19th win in 21 tries in net. Fogal stopped 17 shots including 10 in the second and has five shutouts this season and 12 in his career. Adrian finished 4-of-7 on the power play and held MSOE to 0-of-5 with just two shots on goal. Adrian played nine games in January and had 41.1 percent success on the power play.
