Jan. 16, 2010

Final Stats

ADRIAN, Mich. - The women's hockey team looked to gain points in the NCHA standings against first-place Lake Forest on Saturday night and just could not complete the deal in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Foresters. Adrian led 2-0 after two periods and Lake Forest responded with two third-period goals and the game-winner at the 2:52 mark of overtime.

Lauren Anastos put home a rebound for her first goal of the season on the power play at 19:56 of the first period with an assist from Dana Funkenhauser and Kelly Salis to give AC a 1-0 lead after one period.

Brooke Zaleski gave Adrian a 2-0 lead off a rebound to the right side of the net at 5:32 of the second period. Jessica Grubbs took the initial shot from the right wing and Zaleski put the puck under goaltender Alyssa Wintermute.

Courtney Bean scored both third period goals for Lake Forest (11-1-2, 5-0-2 NCHA) on the power play. She scored on a knuckleball shot from the left point with 30 seconds elapsed in the third with an assist from Molly Wallner. Later at 10:15 with one second left on the power play, Bean shot from around mid-ice and the puck somehow found its way between Dana Timm's pads on a soft goal to tie things at 2-2.

In overtime, Kim Herring scored her 21st goal of the season off a rebound from Bean's shot. Herring jabbed at the puck and slid it just past the goal line under Timm's glove.

Lake Forest outshot Adrian, 31-24, including a 17-3 edge in the third. Timm made 28 saves while Wintermute made 22. The Bulldogs were 2-of-7 on the power play while Lake Forest was 2-of-10.
