Pipers Post 7-3 Win over Adrian

Jan. 2, 2010

Final Stats

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The men's hockey team went over two years without losing back-to-back games but 2010 has not been kind to the Bulldogs as they dropped a 7-3 decision at #10 Hamline on Saturday. Adrian (10-2) was swept by the Pipers, who are the first team to sweep Adrian in a two-game series in program history.

Hamline got off to a torrid start leading 3-0 after two even strength goals by Spencer Anderson and a short-handed goal by Brett Burgau. Anderson's first goal at 5:05 was his second of the year and Burgau followed with his second of the season short-handed at 7:07. Anderson's second of the night at 16:47 of the first put Adrian in a deep hole.

Eric Miller and Chris Stansik got Adrian back into the game with a pair of goals five minutes apart spanning the end of the first and beginning of the second period. Miller had an even strength goal, his 10th of the season, at 19:01 of the first with an assist from Quinn Waller. Stansik then scored a power play goal at 4:50 of the second with an assist from Waller to cut the lead to one.

Kyle Kurr's seventh tally of the year on the power play at 7:14 gave HU a two-goal advantage. Joel Workman scored a short-handed goal, his third of the year, at 11:20 of the second with an assist from Sam Kuzyk on a 4-on-3. Hamline controlled the third period and scored the final three goals of the game. Ryan Kupperman scored at 12:03 followed by a Jordan Van Gilder goal at 17:43 to put HU up 6-3. Anderson capped off his hat trick with an empty net goal at 19:18.

The road does not get an easier for the Bulldogs as they travel to #1 Oswego on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. faceoff.
