Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's
soccer team took sole control of second place and within one point
of first with a 2-1 overtime victory over Trine University on
Wednesday. The Bulldogs record is now 6-7-2 overall and 5-2-2 in
the conference.
The match was Adrian College's first ever Join(RED) night.
Join(RED) is a global effort to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.
Adrian partnered with Nike to outfit the team with (RED) laces
throughout the season and specially designed (RED) jerseys for the
game. The jersey's worn in the game will be given to those donors
who sponsored a player and their jersey for Wednesday game.
The Thunder struck first with a goal midway through the first
half. Adrian would not let down as sophomore Billy
Cremeans scored 27 seconds later off a crossing pass from
freshman Vince
Behnke. Creameans received the pass and was all alone in the
box and put the ball in from 15 yards out for his seventh goal of
the season. The game remained tied at the end of regulation at
1-1.
Before overtime began, the team learned that both teams ahead of
them in the MIAA standings, Calvin and Kalamazoo, had lost. The
Bulldogs came out fired up with the news. Not wasting any time,
Cremeans scored again only three minutes into the first overtime.
Cremeans took a crossing pass from freshman Morgan
Copeland and buried it in the left side of the net to send the
Bulldogs to victory.
In goal, senior Alex
Pavlika made three saves while only allowing the one goal.
The Bulldogs will look to take the lead in the MIAA as they
travel to Albion on Saturday, October 23 starting at 2:30 p.m.
