ADRIAN, Mich. - The Battle for the Milk Jug escaped the men's basketball team for the seventh straight season on Tuesday night (Nov. 23) as Adrian went into SHU Fieldhouse and came up just short in a 71-65 loss to the rival Saints. Adrian is now 1-2 overall while Siena Heights improved to 3-5 overall this season. The Saints are ranked 25th in the NAIA National Poll.
Sophomore guard Wesley Reed had the hot hand for the Bulldogs as he was one point shy of his career-high with 17 points in 33 minutes. Reed went 6-of-12 from the floor and connected on three triples in seven tries. Reed also had four boards, one assist and one steal. Senior forward Jovon Mosley played just nine minutes in the first half due to foul trouble, but finished with 16 minutes in the second half and a total of 11 points. Mosley went 2-of-7 from the floor and 7-of-8 at the foul line. He also had four boards, two steals and an assist. Sophomore forward Sean Gallant also finished in double figures with 11 points. Gallant was 3-of-6 from the floor and 4-of-4 at the foul line in 34 minutes. He also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and dished out two assists.
Sophomore guard Delano Collins finished with eight points, six assists and five rebounds in 33 minutes of action. Adrian was hurt by 20 turnovers as SHU scored 15 points off those miscues. The Bulldogs finished 5-of-18 from the arc and did very well at the foul line going 18-of-21. Adrian also had a big 40-25 advantage on the glass with 11 offensive caroms. Logan Mathews led Siena Heights with 18 points while Mark Snipes had a dominant second half finishing with 17 points including a 4-of-5 night from the arc. Siena Heights shot 44.2 percent for the game while Adrian shot 42.9 percent overall. The Bulldogs are back to the court on Saturday, Nov. 27 as they host Michigan-Dearborn in their home opener.
