CEDARBURG, Wis. – Seeking redemption for last night's loss to Concordia (Wis.), the Adrian College women's hockey team took it to the Falcons early on and refused to allow a goal in a 3-0 victory. With the shutout, the Bulldogs improved their season record to 8-2-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the NCHA.

On Saturday, it was the Bulldogs who jumped out to an early lead when senior Stacey Kempson (Windsor, Ont.) scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season at 4:56 with assist by fellow senior Danielle Maludy (Maumee, Ohio). Adrian added to their lead before the end of the period when Ashley Gniewek (Southgate, Mich.) scored her fifth goal of the year with only 61 seconds left assisted by junior Kelly Salis (St. Clair Shores, Mich.).

Neither team would score during the second period, but it was the Bulldogs who were able to benefit from a 5-on-3 advantage to net their first power play goal of the weekend. It was junior Jenna Corbin (Indian River, Mich.) scoring her second goal of the season at the 16:39 mark of the third period assisted by freshman Danielle Smith (Highland, Mich.) and junior Brooke Zaleski (Toledo, Ohio). The Bulldogs held a 28-16 shot advantage and a 24-18 faceoff advantage on the night.

Emily Michelin (Highland, Mich.) had a solid game earning her national leading sixth shutout of the season, which also ties a team single-season record. Michelin made 16 saves to earn the victory. Michelin is now sixth in the nation with a 0.956 Goals Against Average.

The Bulldogs will take three weeks off before they host top ranked RIT for a two-game series starting  Friday, January 7 at 7:00 p.m.
