The win moves the Bulldogs record to 7-1-1 on the season and 5-0-1 in the conference, two points out of first.
While Adrian was unable to score as quickly as they did last night, they still managed to score their second most goals on the season. Led by four upperclassmen, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period. The Bulldogs netted their first goal at the 14:59 mark of the first period on a goal by senior Ashley Aiken (Eastpointe, Mich.) her first of the season with an assist from fellow senior Lauren Anastos (Farmington Hills, Mich.). Nicky Futers (Sarnia, Ont.), also a senior, scored her second goal of the season on assists by Anastos and junior Kelly Salis (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) with only 17 seconds left in the period.
The Saints got on the board at the 10:24 mark of the second period on a goal by Sonja Sorakrai. Adrian wasted no time in answering back as junior Olivia Rork (Wayne, Mich.) scored exactly one minute later netting her fifth goal of the season on an assist from junior Shana Davis (Cassel Berry, Fla.). The Bulldogs managed just four shots on goal in the second period, but still led 3-1 going into the second intermission.
Adrian took advantage of a St. Scholastica penalty, as the Bulldogs scored nine seconds after the Saints returned to full strength on a goal by Ashley Gniewek (Southgate, Mich.). The goal was Gniwwek's fourth of the season as she was assisted by Rork and Davis. Senior Stacey Kempson (Windsor, Ont.) scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season on a perfect give-and-go pass from freshman Morgan Poole (Ottawa, Ont.) while Alix Vallee (Belleville, Ont.) also assisted on the goal.
Michelin stopped 23 Saints shots, while allowing only the one goal. The goal by the Saints ended Michelin's consecutive shutout minutes streak. The previous record had been 224:34 set by former Bulldog Dana Timm from January 25th through February 14th during the 2008-09 season. It also ended Michelin's consecutive game shutout streak at three games.
Adrian will travel to NCHA opponent Concordia (Wis.) for a Friday-Saturday series starting on December 10 at 8:30 p.m.
