The Adrian College men's basketball team recorded a big conference win on Saturday with a 63-59 road victory over Olivet College. Blair Ramsey scored a career-high 17 points to lead the Bulldogs.
Coach Mark White got balanced scoring from his guards. Ramsey led the way with 17, but Wesley Reed and Delano Collins also got involved in the AC offense. Reed was 2-of-3 from beyond the arc to help net his 14 points, and Collins did damage from the charity stripe by connecting on all eight of his free throw attempts to end the game with 12 points.
Michael McClary once again led Olivet in scoring. McClary scored a game-high 24 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds for the Comets. Joe Post was the only other Comet in double figure scoring. Post didn't miss a single shot and ended the game with 11 points.
Adrian faced a one point deficit at halftime, but they were able to outscore the Comets 36-31 in the second half to record the win. The game was close from start to finish. Reed hit one of his two free throw attempts midway through the second half to tie the game at 37-37. After multiple lead changes the game was knotted up again at 46-46 after Collins hit both of his free throw attempts with 6:41 remaining.
Ramsey gave Adrian a 54-48 lead with 3:45 to play, but Joe Post answered for Olivet during their next possession by hitting a three pointer. McClary tied the game at 57-57 with just over a minute to play with a free throw.
Reed broke the tie by hitting a jumper with 45 seconds left. Olivet called a timeout after the jumper to set up a play for their next offensive possession. The Comets got the ball to McClary who was fouled by Matt Wayne. McClary missed both of his free throws and Delano Collins secured the rebound for the Bulldogs. Olivet was forced to foul in hopes to extend the game, but Ramsey and Collins hit their free throws to ice the victory.
