The Bulldog men's hockey team notched their 20th win of the season on Satuday afternoon with a 5-3 win over Concordia (Wis.) at Arrington Ice Arena. The team got off to a 3-0 lead early in the second period. Sam Kuzyk scored the first of three even strength goals at 2:25 of the opening period with assists from Mike Dahlinger and Jeremy Klaver.
Adrian made it 2-0 at 10:49 as Kyle Watson scored his 13th goal of the season with assists from Rob Hodnicki and Klaver. Kuzyk struck again at 1:52 of the second as Dahlinger and Klaver had the assists. Dahlinger tied the single season MCHA assist record at 35 on the play. He and Adam Krug share the record with two games remaining in the season for Adrian. Klaver's three assists was the third time he has done that this season.
The Falcons rallied from that point as Dustin Partacz redirected the puck past Brad Fogal at 2:18 of the second to cut the lead to 3-1. Adrian scored the next two goals as Kuzyk's team-leading 19th goal at 6:10 made it 4-1 and Dahlinger's power play goal at 13:52 gave AC a four-goal cushion.
Concordia made it interesting as Josh Farnam got his second goal of the season at 14:09 of the second to make it 5-2 after two periods. The lone goal of the third came off the stick of Jari Sanders who redirected the puck off a shot by Jarred Lucas for his third goal of the season at 12:11.
Fogal made 21 saves as Adrian completed the season sweep of the Falcons (4-0) by a combined score of 35-6. The Bulldogs also ensured a bye in the first round of the MCHA Tournament. They will play in the Harris Cup Four at Arrington Ice Arena on March 5-6. The team concludes the regular season at home next weekend with a two-game series against MSOE.
Adrian outshot Concordia, 48-24, and was 1-for-4 on the power play. Dustin Le Claire made 43 saves for the Falcons (0-19-4).
