Late Surge By Bulldogs Not Enough to Claim Victory

Box Score

ADRIAN, Mich. – A late charge by the Adrian men's soccer team was not enough to take down cross-town rival Siena Heights at Performance Stadium on Wednesday evening as they fell 2-1. The Bulldogs record now stands at 1-4.

The Bulldogs and Saints cemented their rivalry as both sides pushed for control the entire game, resulting in 25 shots, 18 fouls, three goals and three yellow cards. The Bulldogs lone goal came off the foot of sophomore Cazz Warren in the 66th minute. Warrens' third goal of the season came off an assist from Billy Cremeans as Warren was able to bury his second shot after the first rebounded off the right post.

At the end of the first half, sophomore Aaron Armstrong had a scoring chance as his header was just left of the goal with under a minute left. The Bulldogs were out-shot in the first half 8-4, but came out with a surge and out-shot the Saints in the second half 9-4. The Bulldogs had another scoring chance in the second half as the cross from freshman Ryan McCarthy in about the 60th minute was just out in front and rolled to the right of the goal. Adrian had several late chances in the final minutes of the match but was unable to score the equalizer.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Pavlika made a game high five saves.

The Bulldogs next face off with Elmhurst as they travel to Performance Stadium on Saturday, September 18 at 7:00 pm.
