Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – A late charge by the
Adrian men's soccer team was not enough to take down cross-town
rival Siena Heights at Performance Stadium on Wednesday evening as
they fell 2-1. The Bulldogs record now stands at 1-4.
The Bulldogs and Saints cemented their rivalry as both sides
pushed for control the entire game, resulting in 25 shots, 18
fouls, three goals and three yellow cards. The Bulldogs lone goal
came off the foot of sophomore Cazz
Warren in the 66th minute. Warrens' third goal of
the season came off an assist from Billy
Cremeans as Warren was able to bury his second shot after the
first rebounded off the right post.
At the end of the first half, sophomore Aaron
Armstrong had a scoring chance as his header was just left of
the goal with under a minute left. The Bulldogs were out-shot in
the first half 8-4, but came out with a surge and out-shot the
Saints in the second half 9-4. The Bulldogs had another scoring
chance in the second half as the cross from freshman Ryan
McCarthy in about the 60th minute was just out in
front and rolled to the right of the goal. Adrian had several late
chances in the final minutes of the match but was unable to score
the equalizer.
Senior goalkeeper Alex
Pavlika made a game high five saves.
The Bulldogs next face off with Elmhurst as they travel to
Performance Stadium on Saturday, September 18 at 7:00 pm.
