Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian
men's soccer team didn't have the easiest opponent as
they opened up MIAA conference play on Tuesday afternoon as they
face the top ranked team in the country, Calvin College. The
Bulldogs put up a tough fight but fell 2-0.
Adrian's defense was able to hold the Knights to their
second fewest goals on the season. The game was scoreless till
almost halftime, when Calvin broke though in the 42nd
minute, as the Bulldogs were down by just a goal at halftime. The
Knights scored five minutes into the second half, to go up by the
final score of 2-0.
Senior Alex
Pavlika kept the Bulldogs in the game as he made a season-high
eight saves. On the offensive side of the ball, sophomore Cazz
Warren added to his team-leading shots on goal with one in the
game. Morgan
Copeland, a freshman took a team-high two shots, including one
shot on goal. Copeland had an opportunity to put the Bulldogs on
the board in the 84th minute, but was stopped by the
Calvin goalie. Freshman Matt
Plawecki came on as a substitute and had the team's other
shot on goal.
The men's soccer team will attempt to get their first
conference victory on Saturday, September 25 as they travel to
Trine University at 2:30 pm.
