ALBION, Mich. - The men's basketball turned in a complete team effort on Wednesday night in hostile territory at Albion College and when the dust settled, the Bulldogs had their first road win of the season with a 69-63 triumph over the Britons. With the win, Adrian moves to 7-6 overall and a five-way tie for first place in the MIAA with a 2-1 record.
Senior Jovon Mosley led Adrian with 18 points and made his living at the foul line going 10-of-11 for the contest. Mosley played an all-around solid game with four rebounds, four assists, three steals and zero turnovers.
Sophomore Dennis Mason likewise rose to the occasion tying a career-high with 14 points and recording his first double-double of the season with 10 rebounds. He was one rebound shy of tying his career-high in that category. Mason finished the game 7-of-9 from the floor with a blocked shot and a steal in 29 minutes.
Sophomore Wesley Reed came up big in the second half and finished the game with 14 points. Reed was 6-of-6 from the stripe and connected on two triples in 33 minutes. Sophomore Mitch Gabriele proved a spark off the bench in the first half going 3-of-3 from behind the arc. He finished with 11 points in 14 minutes.
Sophomore Delano Collins ran the point well finishing with eight assists and just one turnover in 29 minutes. He finished with four points, one rebound and one steal. Adrian set a season-high shooting 48.8 percent from the floor. They also were 22-of-26 at the line setting a season-high for free throws made and attempted.
Albion shot just 34 percent for the contest nearly 10 percentage points lower than their season average. The third-ranked defensive team in Division III, Adrian also limited Albion to 30.3 percent shooting in the second half. Adrian did an effective job of getting inside with a 26-16 edge in points in the paint. The 69 points scored by Adrian is also a season-best.
