Dovey Nets Winner in 4-3 Win at Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. - Sophomore Andrew Dovey was the unsung hero for the Bulldogs on Friday night at Lawrence as he scored the game-winner in the third period as Adrian rallied with two goals in the third for a 4-3 win over the Vikings. Adrian (12-3-1, 9-1-1) remained in a first-place tie in the MCHA with the win and senior Brad Fogal made a season-high 39 saves while picking up his 80th career win in net for the Bulldogs. His previous save high this season was 30 against Hamline.

Mike Dahlinger put Adrian on the board just 49 seconds into the game with an assist from Josh Cousineau. Dahlinger's seventh goal of the season was at even strength. Lawrence tied it up at 1-1 after one period at 7:34 at even strength as Sam Johnson scored his second goal of the season with an assist from Ben DiMarco. Adrian outshot Lawrence, 11-10, in the first period.

Lawrence (9-6-1, 7-4) put themselves in a good position in the second period by scoring the first two goals of the period. DiMarco scored at 4:04 for his second of the season with assists from Johnson and John Orrico. Matt Hughes made it 3-1 at 13:52 for his eighth of the season at even strength with an assist from Corey Garrett. Adrian got back within one at 3-2 at 16:54 as Brad Houston scored his 11th of the season at even strength from Eric Miller and Dahlinger. Lawrence outshot Adrian, 18-8, in the second stanza.

Adrian found a way to win in the third period despite being outshot 14-10. Adrian scored on their only power play of the period as Miller scored his seventh goal of the campaign at 10:11 with Dahlinger and Quinn Waller getting assists. Dovey then scored the winner at 11:50 for his fourth goal of the season with an assist from Jeff Young. Shawn Skelly was out of the lineup for the first time this season. He has played in 100 career games for the Bulldogs and is three assists shy of tying the MCHA career record of 83.
