Box Score

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's basketball team got off to a slow start on Monday night as they mustered just 16 points during the first half in their 68-48 loss to Albion College. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 7-11 on the season and 4-7 in the MIAA.

It took Adrian just under six minutes to score their first point of the night, but by then Albion had already pulled out to a seven point lead. The Britons pushed their lead to 18 at 3:49, before finishing off the half leading 32-16. Adrian managed to keep the Britons leading scorer Patty Rewa to only nine points and four rebounds in the first half but the Britons capitalized off 13 Adrian turnovers resulting in 16 points.

Albion opened the second half on a 17-4 run to extend their lead to a game-high 29. The Bulldogs would get no closer than 17 at 49-32 at the 8:49 mark. Rewa was key to the Britons second half as she had 21 points and 11 boards in the second half to finish with game-highs of 30 and 15.

For Adrian, freshman LaQwana Dockery (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) led the team for the third straight game, scoring 13 points. Junior Kellee Wonders (Pittsford, Mich./Hudson) added in seven points while pulling down a team-high four rebounds and grabbing two steals. Sophomore Nicole Boggs (Gibraltar, Mich./St. Mary's Catholic Central) and freshman Stephany Bohlmann (Webberville, Mich./Dansville) each added in six points. Bohlmann and sophomore Kayla Galecka (Ovid, Mich./Ovid-Elsie) tied with a game-high three assists.

Adrian hit only two three-pointers on the night, the lowest as a team since December 1 against Calvin. Albion out-rebounded the Bulldogs 41-27, the lowest team total on the season. With the win Albion has swept the season series with Adrian for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

Adrian will look to rebound quickly as they travel to Calvin College on Wednesday, February 2 for a 7:30 p.m. start.
