Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's basketball team fell behind early to Hope College, the second ranked team in the nation, and were unable to mount a comeback falling 73-47. With the loss the Bulldogs snap their three game winning streak and fall to 4-8 on the season and 1-4 in the MIAA.
The Bulldogs were able to hang close to the Flying Dutch through the first five minutes. Hope would go on a 9-0 run to pull ahead for good. The Bulldogs trailed 49-19 at halftime after shooting 7-of-25 (.280) from the floor. Adrian turned it around in the second half shooting 45.8% from the floor including 50% from behind the arc. The Bulldogs stayed close to the Flying Dutch only being out-scored 31-28.
For the game the Bulldogs shot 18-of-49 (.367) from the floor, while shooting a season-high 54.5 (6-11) from behind the arc.
Leading the way for Adrian was junior Kellee Wonders (Pittsford, Mich./Hudson) scoring 10 points while pulling down four rebounds. Sophomore Rachael Walker (Warrensville Hts., Ohio/John F. Kennedy) added in nine points while grabbing a game-high six boards. Katie Ross (Clawson, Mich./Clawson), a junior, tallied eight points including making two shots from behind the arc. Freshman LaQwana Dockery (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) and junior Jenn Headley (Hicksville, Ohio/Hicksville) led the team while two steals, while another freshman, Senneca Scott (Livonia, Mich./Franklin), led the team with two blocks. Overall 10 different players scored for the Bulldogs.
Adrian will look to bounce back as they host MIAA opponent Alma College on Wednesday, January 12 for a 7:30 start.
