ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College women's bowling team hosted seven other women's teams and 13 men's teams in the first-ever AC Open held at Lenawee Rec on Saturday. Saginaw Valley State University narrowly defeated Michigan State University to win the men's championship. Adrian College would win the women's championship defeating Saginaw Valley State University by 280 pins. Adrian had four bowlers make the All-Tournament team finishin second through fifth overall. The team was once again led by junior Kristen Marcis with a 191 average taking second place. Sophomore Chelsea Essenmacher, averaging a 180 finished third followed by sophomore Emily Gesell and junior Shannon McKowen placing fourth and fifth respectively.
"I couldn't be happier with the outcome and to have the program's first-ever win happen in front of their friends and family was very special," said second-year head coach Jody Fetterhoff. "We look to build upon this as the team heads to Beavercreek, Ohio next weekend to compete in the Orange & Black Tournament."
