Men's NCAA Ice Hockey

Bulldogs Surprised at MSOE

Box Score

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The men's hockey team went into this weekend's series at MSOE having never lost to the Raiders in 18 career meetings. For one night, the Raiders solved the mystery of the Bulldogs in a 3-1 win over #4 Adrian on Friday. #11 MSOE benefitted from 66 penalty minutes by Adrian even though they went just 1-of-7 on the power play. Adrian took four game misconduct penalties and will need to keep their composure in tomorrow's rematch if they want to even the series. MSOE is now 5-0 overall, all in league play, while Adrian slips to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

The one goal scored was the fewest in the series history for the Bulldogs and the 66 penalty minutes were the most against the Raiders by a Bulldog squad. Cole Gibson gave the home team a 1-0 lead at the 4:37 mark of the second on the power play with assists from Logan Bauman and Michael Schenfeld.

Adrian tied the game at 1-1 as Jordan Watts answered on the power play on a backhand rebound shot for his team-leading fourth goal of the season. Schenfeld scored the game-winner at 16:00 of the second at even strength to give MSOE a 2-1 lead.

The third period went to the Raiders as they chipped in an insurance goal at 11:35 as Josh Keizer netted it with assists by Gibson and Carl Lindblad. Adrian was outshot, 40-23, for the game but the Bulldogs did have nine shots on goal in the third. Scott Shackell was very busy in net for Adrian making a season-high 37 saves before Adrian emptied its net with 1:08 left in the game for an extra attacker.
