Box Score SUPERIOR, Wisc. – The Adrian College women's hockey team traveled 12 hours northwest to face Northern Collegiate Hockey Association foe UW-Superior in game one of a two-game series (Nov. 11) at Wessman Arena. Both teams settled for a 1-1 overtime tie. The Lady Bulldogs go to 2-2-1 and 0-2-1 in the NCHA and the Yellow Jackets move to 3-1-2 and 2-0-1 in conference play.
The game was stalemate through two periods of play despite the Lady Bulldogs' front line applying pressure with aggressive play. At 5:27 in the third period, the Yellow Jackets scored the first point of the game when Sheryl Kaskiw and Chelsey Wiersche found Ashley Martin for a power play goal, giving Superior the late 1-0 lead. With just under seven minutes remaining, Adrian's sophomore Danielle Smith knotted things up with a score of her own off a rebound. Smith now has a team-leading eight points on the year. Senior Olivia Rork earned the assist, her second on the season.
Between the pipes, sophomore Emily Michelin garnered 17 saves in 65 minutes of play.
For the game, the Yellow Jackets held a slight 18-15 shot advantage. Adrian was 0-3 on power play goals-attempt, while Superior was 1-4.
Both teams hit the ice again tomorrow for a 3:00 p.m. EST start.
