Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – After 14 ties and 12 lead changes, the Adrian College (5-3) men's basketball team mustered an 18-4 run in the middle of the second half to take a commanding lead en route to a 70-64 win over non-conference foe Defiance College (2-6) tonight (Dec. 14).
The Bulldogs' defense clamped down on the Yellow Jackets' top scorer junior Logan Wolfrum. Coming into tonight's game, Wolfrum was averaging a team-best 18.3 points a contest. He was held without a point in the first half and only managed eight in the second.
Adrian out-shot Defiance 49% (24-for-49) to 43.4% (23-for-53) for the game. It was the Bulldogs' second highest shooting performance on the year.
Freshman Adam Meier led four in double figures for Adrian with 17 points. Junior Sean Gallant followed with 15 points. Also scoring in double digits were freshman Eric Lewis (14) and junior Cody Barnes (12).
For the game, Defiance out-rebounded Adrian 32-31. Leading on the glass for the Bulldogs was Gallant with eight boards. Meier added six rebounds and junior Delano Collins and Lewis each had four boards. Collins also pocketed a game-high four steals. Junior Brad Whitby dished out a career- and game-high six assists.
The Bulldogs hit the road for two games before they start conference play. First up is Marygrove on Thursday, December 22 at 7:00 p.m.
