ADRIAN, Mich. - Senior defenseman Bobby Hineman had a career-high four assists and six different Bulldogs scored as Adrian College defeated Lake Forest College, 6-1, at Arrington Ice Arena on Friday evening (Feb. 4). The Bulldogs are now 16-3-1 overall and 13-1-1 in the MCHA.
Sam Kuzyk scored his sixth goal of the season at 3:08 of the first period to get the ball rolling. The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead after one period as Mike Towns scored his fourth goal of the year with an assist from Hineman.
Adrian added two more goals in the second period as Mike Dahlinger cleaned up a rebound at 5:35 for his eighth tally of the season. Joel Workman then scored his fourth career short-handed goal at 12:35 on a play that looked harmless until Workman fired the puck top shelf past former Bulldog Marc Stuart, who got the start in net for Lake Forest.
Adrian scored twice more in the third period as Eric Miller scored his 13th goal of the season at 1:15 from Brad Houston and Jeremy Klaver on a nice display of passing. Michael Violette snapped the shutout at 5:52 for his first goal of the season to make it 5-1. Shawn Skelly notched the game's final goal at 18:59 on the power play with assists from Miller and Hineman. It was Skelly's 13th goal of the year and the 45th power play goal of his career. It also meant that Adrian did not go empty for the night on the power play (1-for-7). The Bulldogs have failed to score a power play goal in just two games this season.
Brad Fogal stopped 20 shots to earn his 16th win of the season and 84th win of his career in net. Stuart made 31 saves but did yield all six goals in his return to Arrington Ice Arena. Lake Forest finished 0-for-6 on the power play marking the seventh game this season that Adrian has not given up a power play goal.
The two teams will faceoff tomorrow at 2:00 PM and it will be the final regular season home game for 17 seniors who have now posted a record of 93-11-2 during their four-year careers. The team has also been ranked nationally in the top 15 for 55 straight weeks.
