ADRIAN, Mich. - The men's basketball team dropped their third straight in conference play and second straight at home on Saturday night (Feb. 5) with a 66-57 loss to visiting Albion College. The Britons avenged an earlier season loss to the Bulldogs, 69-63, back on Jan. 12 by shooting 46.8 percent (22-of-47) from the floor and 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from behind the arc. They did so against the top defensive team in the MIAA.
Adrian never led in the contest and could not solve Chris Hutton who scored 26 points including going 6-of-8 from behind the arc. He scored just five points in the previous meeting this season. Sophomore Sean Gallant led Adrian with 17 points establishing a new career-high. He went 8-of-10 from the floor including a triple at the buzzer and also grabbed five rebounds in 32 minutes.
Sophomore Wesley Reed added 14 points which was the first time in the last four games he reached double figures. Reed was 4-of-7 shooting including 3-of-6 from behind the arc and played 36 minutes. Sophomore Delano Collins registered seven assists in 27 minutes.
Adrian shot identical 22-of-47 from the floor but were 6-of-16 from behind the arc. Adrian did have 17 second-chance points compared to six for the Britons. Next week gets no easier for the Bulldogs as they travel to Calvin on Wednesday and host Hope on Saturday.
