Box Score The Bulldog Women's Hockey team dropped a home game to Concordia (Wis.) Saturday to fall to 5-8-2 (3-6-2 MIAA). The Bulldogs got off to a fast start as sophomore forward Danielle Smith scored her fourth goal of the season, a mere five minutes into the game, but this was not enough as Adrian lost 3-2. With the goal, Smith boosted her team-leading point total to 11.
Late in the first, the Falcons of Concordia (Wis.) netted a power play goal as freshman Courtney Millar was stuck in the penalty box for tripping. The penalty was just one of two for Adrian on the night and the only power play goal scored for the Falcons. Adrian finished 0-for-4 in converting power play opportunities.
The Bulldogs recorded their second goal when junior forward Ashley Gniewek netted a shot in the third with 7:07 left in the game to make the score 3-2. The goal was Gniewek's third of the season. From there, Adrian had their chances as they pulled the goalie with under a minute left but were unable to find the net on two shots
Adrian did manage to out-shoot Concordia (Wis.) on the night 31-21. For Adrian, it was senior Brittany Zeches who had 18 saves from the goalie spot. The two teams will meet again tomorrow at 2:00 P.M. for another NCHA game.
