ADRIAN, Mich. - The cool temperatures outside were not a factor as the Adrian Bulldogs men's basketball team had a hot night from the field, rolling past Albion, 76-48. With the win, the Bulldogs move into sole possession of second place in the MIAA with a record of 12-5 (5-2 MIAA).

The game started with the Bulldogs scoring the first nine points which included two 3-pointers by junior Delano Collins. After a steal by junior Brad Whitby, freshman Adam Meier got it on the fast break for a two-handed dunk to make it 11-0 just two and a half minutes into the game.

Adrian then kept the scoring rolling, having at one point a 25-3 lead over Albion. With three minutes left in the first half, freshman Eric Lewis made another fast-break layup to increase the lead to 35-7. The Bulldogs completed their most impressive 20 minutes of basketball this season, holding a 41-12 lead over the Britons.

In the first half alone, the Bulldogs shot 54.8 percent from the field and hit four 3-pointers. The Bulldogs also had nine first half assists and out-rebounded Albion 23-16.

Junior Sean Gallant scored a game-high 15 points, going a perfect 7-of-7 from the field. Gallant also had a game-high in rebounds with 10, which gave him his first double-double of the season.

Whitby also finished in double figures for the Bulldogs with 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Sophomore Richaud Pack had 13 points, going 3-of-6 from 3-point range. Collins finished the game with six points and six assists.

For the game, the Bulldogs shot 52.5 percent from the field while going 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Adrian did most of their damage inside, outscoring Albion 32-8 in the paint. The Bulldogs also came up with a big advantage in the rebounding total, out-rebounding the Britons 43-26. 

The next game for the Bulldogs will come on the road as they will travel to Calvin on Saturday, Jan. 28 to take on the Knights. Adrian previously beat Calvin at Merillat Gymnasium on Jan. 4 by a score of 68-61. The Knights come into the matchup with a record of 9-9 (4-3 MIAA). Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
