Box Score Angola, Ind. – The men's soccer team (5-11, 3-7) dropped their sixth one-goal game of the season Tuesday afternoon. This time it was to Trine University (5-9-1, 3-6-1), 1-0, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. The Bulldogs have now played four consecutive 1-0 games, coming up victorious in two of those.
When you currently have the league's hottest goalkeeper, oppositions start to get creative in finding ways to beat Adrian's Niko Giantsopoulous. Although, the current MIAA Defensive Player of the Week and league-leader in saves, save percentage, saves per game and goals-against average did not allow a goal off the foot of an opposition today, the Thunder did manage to score with a header early in the second half. Giantsopoulous did have, however, another double-digit (10) save performance.
Trine's Andre Hilson scored his eighth goal of the season, which proved to be the game winner.
"It was another tight game and we missed the high percentage chances we created. We made a strong push at the end, but we couldn't find the equalizer," said head men's coach Chris LeFevre.
The team continues on the road as they visit Alma next for a 2:30 start on Saturday, October 20th.
