Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The women's hockey team (1-0) blanked Augsburg College (0-1), 3-0 on Friday, in their home opener at Arrington Ice Arena.
Sarah Connelly had three points (2-1), and Brittany Zeches turned aside 20 shots to lead the team. Lauren Turner had two helpers in the victory.
Both Connelly and Devyn Fitzhenry finished the night at plus-3, as all the Adrian goals were scored at even strength, although Connelly's second goal of the night was scored into an empty net with just three seconds left.
Connelly's first goal came with less than four minutes left in the first period. Audrey Noles and Turner earned assists on the game-winning tally.
Alix Vallee scored her first goal of the season just over three minutes into the second period to put Adrian up 2-0. Both Connelly and Turner assisted on the goal that gave the team some breathing room.
The Adrian attack peppered Augsburg with 38 total shots, including 29 in the final two periods. Neither team could convert on the power play with Adrian going 0-3 and the Auggies going 0-6.
The same two teams will be right back at it tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Arrington Ice Arena.
