DAYTON, Ohio - The Adrian College women's bowling team turned in another strong performance as they finished fourth out of 18 teams in the Raider Classic in Dayton this past weekend. For the second year in a row, the team advanced to the eliminator final in which the top four teams after qualifying each bowl one baker game across four lanes to decide which two teams will face off in the finals. Adrian qualified fourth but all the scores from the previous two days of qualifying were dropped so the team still had a good shot at making it to the final round. While hosts and second-ranked team in the nation Wright State University coasted into the finals, Adrian trailed Notre Dame College (10th ranked) by one pin and had a one pin lead on Pikeville University (seventh ranked) heading into the last game. Adrian got some bad breaks the last game leaving four splits to finish in fourth place. 

Junior Chelsea Essenmacher made the All-Tournament team for the second time so far this season finishing sixth averaging a 202.8 for five games. She also shot a 254 her last game which is the highest game ever bowled by an individual in program history. Senior Kristen Marcis and sophomore Nicole Loomis also made the top 25 with Marcis finishing 10th averaging a 198.8 and Loomis came in 23rd with an average of 180.6.

"While the team dropped off a bit the second day, we did enough to make it to the finals again which was our goal. The team made a great run and only missed the championship match by 33 pins. We are only getting better and the team is eager to host the Adrian College Open this Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at Lenawee Recreation Lanes," said head coach Jody Fetterhoff.
